Symptoms

When you use the Content Studio Office Integrator to upload, edit or fetch files file names containing extended characters (ex. ÅÄÖ) those characters can be changed or stripped out.

Cause

This is caused by mixed encodings and some problems connected to how the Office Integrator and MS Office handle UTF-8 encoded file names.

Resolution

A new version of the Content Studio Office integrator (version 1.2) is available for registered customers. You can obtain this fix directly from Teknikhuset. This version will not fully functional for Content Studio 4.0 users unless you also upgrade Content Studio to version 4.0 build 1009. Content Studio version 3.2 - 3.5 does not use UTF-8 and the new version of Office Integrator should work with these versions. However a hotfix is available for 4.0 versions prior to build 1009. This is a manual hotfix that requires thorough knowledge of SQL-server tools and Content Studio.
